We’re doing the 30 Hour Famine to fight hunger — to help feed and care for hungry kids.

• On Famine Weekend, we’ll go without food for 30 hours. Between now and then, we’ll learn about hunger and how it can be stopped. And we’ll raise funds to help real-life kids affected by hunger.

• The stakes are huge. Every $30 you raise can help feed and care for a child for a month. That means if you raise just $360 over the next few weeks, you can help a child for a whole year.

• And you’re not just helping feed them for a day, a month, or even a year. The funds you raise will also be used to help kids and families overcome poverty and hunger for a lifetime. That’s why we’re doing the Famine. That’s why we “Go Hungryh.” We will be staying at the church overnight. There will be sleeping! Bring everything you would bring for an overnight camping trip (except food). Contact me for more info

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

We focus on the long term. We want to raise our children well so they will make good choices as adults. What about the short term though? The life principle of Proverbs 22:6 just might also work on a daily basis.

How do you start each day with your child? Are you positive or negative? Is your morning full of stress and meeting a schedule? Do you take time for prayer and/or scripture?

Prayer might simply be you asking your child, “What can I ask God to bless you with today?” and then praying that short prayer out loud right then with your child. Remember to ask that evening or the next morning how God answered that prayer.

Scripture might be just one verse with your child. Ask for suggestions how you [not your child] can better live that verse that day. Consider how you start your day with your child and then watch to see whether they turned from that start when the day has become old.

Youth Camp is just around the corner…literally… its on the next block!  Well, its not THAT close, but its coming soon.  Register NOW for youth camp.  Camp is June 18th – 22nd.

Many students have already expressed interest, but you’re not officially signed up until you’ve submitted 2 things, the Registration/Medical Release form and your money.

Join Us For The Annual Crossroads Baptist Church Family Picnic!

Sunday, May 20, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Church.

The church will provide fried chicken and drinks. Everyone bring a side dish or dessert.  There will be domino games, volleyball, etc…and A GIANT blow-up waterslide for the big kids and little pools for the little kids.

Come join the fun and fellowship!!!

Later on that night Anna came into the living room, sprawled out on the couch and laid her head on my shoulder.  “I want to wear it (the dress) all the time.  It’s so beautiful.”  I giggled at her girlish desires.  Then I was struck by the profoundness of her statement.  She wanted to wear the dress to “feel” beautiful.  I drew her close and said, “You ARE beautiful”.

We chase so many sparkly desires that make us “feel” a desired emotion or relive a favorite memory, when all along God has invited us through faith in Christ to trade in our corrupt desires, emotions and memories for the incorruptible righteousness of Christ.  We do not have to “wear the dress” or manipulate our circumstances to    extract a feeling.

Isaiah 61 says that God has sent a Savior to “comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve; to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

Ephesians 4:24 says that you were taught: “to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

How do you “feel” today?  Pick up the garments of righteousness.  Find the peace of the beautiful work of God    occurring in your life through your faith in Christ.  I love to feel the release of tension and anxiety when I hold my children close.  On that particular night I felt very close to God, as I longed for my daughter to know that she was, to me, always beautiful.  God is not in to hand-me-downs or good enough.  He longs for you and I to come close to Him and find rest in His words of promise and truth.  “You are BE-AU-TI-FUL!”

Crossroads would like to honor all of our Senior Adults, age 60+.  There will be some surprises during the morning services. After church, at noon, there will be a special luncheon in the fellowship hall for these adults.

We will have a special Easter Sunrise Service this Sunday, April 8,  beginning at 6:45 am on Sunday morning.  Please arrive early.

A continental breakfast will immediately follow.

We will have our regular Early Service at 8:00 am, Sunday School at 9:15 am and Morning Service at 10:30 am.

There will be no evening worship service.

Children’s Resurrection Celebration!
Saturday, April 7.  10:00 am to 12:00 noonat the Crossroads Fellowship Hall.

Balloon Sculptor, Dan Bellamy, will be there to entertain the kids with balloon animals and tricks as he talks to the kids about God’s word.

There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt, so bring your baskets.
Candy donations are needed.
