A new WORSHIP opportunity begins Sunday, September 18.  We will begin an 8:00 a.m. WORSHIP service that day.  The purpose is to open up the doors of our church a little wider to our community, to involve more of God’s people in WORSHIP together.  Our two morning WORSHIP opportunities will serve as pathways into our small groups in Sunday School.  The time is now to reach into our community with the exciting news that Christ has come and died in our place, this is the gospel.  The other part of that good news is that we can live for Him and for His purposes, which is discipleship.  Why do we want people, more people, to come to church?  So that more lives can be changed by faith in Christ, so that families can come together for God’s purpose, and so that our communities can grow stronger and more stable.

To WORSHIP God is the ultimate purpose of human beings.  The praise of His name is the final high point of history; believers will spend eternity in His presence worshiping Him.  MISSIONS are the necessary means this side of heaven to bring people to WORSHIP.  I am so thankful for the many MISSION opportunities for us here at Crossroads.  The following is a short list to highlight the opportunities coming in the next few months.

YOU CAN give to the Mary Hill Davis Offering for State Missions.  Our church goal is $4,500, with our ingathering day being September 25.  The offering makes it possible for missionaries in Texas to witness and minister for the        purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission, to help people come to know Christ.  Maybe you and your family can creatively save in order to give to this great work.

September 12-16 will be our week to serve in the local food pantry, which is in Marshall.  If you are interested in helping, there is a sign-up sheet in the foyer of the auditorium.

YOU CAN participate in Operation Christmas Child. Since 1993, shoe boxes packed with small gifts have been       distributed in over 130 countries to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Last year 8 million children received shoe boxes.  Directions for packing a shoebox will be available in October.  Packed shoe boxes will be brought to the church and taken to a Samaritan’s Purse distribution center.

What great opportunities for you to give and share in the great work of God locally, in our state, and around the world.
