Pastor’s Blog: Welcome Blake Dover

Categories: Pastors Blog,Youth Blog

We are so excited to welcome Blake Dover and his wife Brooke to lead our young people here at Crossroads.  I thought you might like the chance to get to know him a little better with a little question and answer:

Q:  How and when were you saved?  When were you called to ministry?
A:  I was saved at the age of 10 but I went through a period where I lacked leadership and stability in my faith. It wasn’t until I surrendered to the ministry the summer before my 9th grade year that I really began to take my faith seriously. I had to come to a point where I realized it was all about submitting to Jesus and not about anything I could say or do.

Q:  What books have you read that have impacted your spiritual growth?
A:  Besides the Bible; I would have to say Created for Community by Stanley Grenz.

Q:  What is your favorite movie?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Q:  What is something that people might be surprised to know about you?
A:   I am a runner. I have run two marathons and am planning on running another in the fall. My goal is to run one full marathon every year.

Q:  When were you and Brooke married?
A:  Our anniversary is June 22, 2013.

Q:  When are your birthdays?
A:  Our birthdays are exactly a week apart. Mine is August 17, 1990 and hers is August 24, 1990.

Q: What is your favorite verse in the Bible
A:  I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.  Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.  The grace of our Lord Jesus was poured out on me poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.    1 Timothy 1:12-14

Q:  What is your vision for youth ministry?
A:  My goal is to see students have an understanding of and a passion for the gospel. As well as to see them live this out in their everyday lives.

Q:  You are on  a Deserted Island, you get three objects.  What will you take?
A:  Paracord, Bear Grylls knife, and the Bible. I wouldn’t need anything else!

Please pray for Blake and Brooke as they settle in to Marshall and as they lead our young people towards a deeper understanding of God.
Your Pastor,
David
