From Your Pastor’s Heart
June 14 – July 26
#summersabbath is a suspension of our regular Sunday night programs for the purpose of strengthening the core relationships of the Crossroads Baptist Church family. Last summer (2014) in conjunction with our Faith@Home ministry we suspended our Sunday evening ministries for the month of July. This summer we are taking a full Sabbath, meaning 7 weeks. Beginning Sunday, June 14 through Sunday, July 26, we will suspend our Sunday evening activities/worship to encourage our families as well as special groups within our church family to enjoy being together in worship, service, meals, devotion, games, fun, etc. Here is how we are encouraging you to take advantage of our #summersabbath:
Senior Adults ? The Fellowship Hall will be available for you to use to gather for games, food, and fellowship. We encourage you to gather there or at someone?s home and share together in the rich relationships that make Crossroads so sweet.
Families with grown children ? We encourage you to take time to visit your children and grandchildren. Make it an intentional time. Intentionally fun, teach the grand kids a new game. Intentionally meaningful, share a special memory or biblical truth with your children and grandchildren. Intentionally good, let them know how important they are to you.
We also encourage you empty nesters to spend time together. Have a cook-out for several couples, invite someone you?re not acquainted with, build a new friendship. Include your friends who are not active in church or in a relationship with Christ. Take advantage of the time to create new relationships while introducing others to Christ and His church.
Families with children at home ? Just like last year, we want to encourage and equip families to raise up your children to Love God with all their hearts and to love others without regard for themselves. We want to strongly encourage you to reach out to unchurched families and make their family apart of your devotional, game, and/or meal. We will once again be supplying resources for you in order to make it more likely that you will spend some meaningful time together this summer. We will also be looking forward to seeing your pictures posted to Facebook and Twitter. Use the hashtag #summersabbath!
On August 9, we will celebrate all our church family and give away some cool prizes that all who participated will be eligible for. It is going to be a great summer!
