From Your Pastor’s Heart: Thank God

Categories: Pastors Blog

If a man carries his cross beautifully and makes it radiant with glory of a meek and gentle spirit,
the time will come when the things that now disturb will be the events for which he will most of
all give gratitude to God. (Anonymous)

In a season of thanksgiving it is important to consider what we have to be thankful for. Often
when we “count our blessings” our lists are filled with nationalism, family, and thoughts of
health and prosperity. While these are worthy of our gratitude, they are not consistent for all
Christians. If it is God’s will for all Christians to be thankful in every circumstance, then what can
every believer from every nation be thankful for? Oswald Chambers gives us some help:

1. Thank God for your salvation! (1 Timothy 1:15)
2. Thank God for His strength in our weakness! (2 Corinthians 12:9)
3. Thank God for difficulties! (James 1:2)
4. Thank God we belong to Him! (Romans 8)
5. Thank God for working into us the nature of Jesus! (Romans 8:29)
6. Thank God for our sanctification! (Jude 24-25)
7. Thank God for the pressure of HIs hand! (Hebrews 12:6)
8. Thank God for His grace and victory! (1 Corinthians 15:57)
9. Thank God for enabling us to live for Him! (1 Corinthians 15:10)

What we are grateful for reveals what is most precious to us. May the world see that He is
most precious to us!

Faithfully Yours,
Bro. David
