Crossroads Baptist Church (CRBC), located in the Piney Woods of East Texas in Marshall, Texas, is seeking candidates for our Senior Pastor position.  We desire that our Senior Pastor be a man called by God that believes the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God and uses that belief to love God, love others and to make a difference.  He will be passionate for reaching the lost, for the growth of the members of the church, and about seeking God for his own growth.  As a community of faith, we put families first with our affordable Wednesday meal, times for fellowship, children and youth activities, and timely Bible studies that provide biblical solutions for today’s life situations.

 

CRBC serves the Marshall community and surrounding area(s) of Elysian Fields, Scottsville, and Waskom to name a few.  We are located in a rural area convenient to a major interstate and located 15-30 miles from Marshall and Longview.  The church is located in the school district of Elysian Fields ISD which continues to be a school of excellence.  Crossroads is very much a mission-minded church, with strong involvement in local, regional, stateside, and international missions.

 

The Senior Pastor will serve as the administrative leader for the church staff.  Our church staff is comprised of an Associate Pastor/Music Minister who also serves as Education Director; Youth Minister; part-time Children’s Ministry Director; part-time church secretary; and part-time financial secretary.  We host two Sunday morning services with an average attendance of 330 between the two services and approximately 250 in attendance during Sunday school classes.

 

Applicants should send a cover letter and a resume to pastorsearch@crossroadsbcfamily.org.  Applicants should also include a brief theological statement related to the following:  Scripture; God; Salvation; The Church; and Family.  Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of five (5) years of pastor/senior pastor experience and candidates who have seminary training in theology.

 Sam Hammontree – Chairman

Sam and his wife Jayme have been members of Crossroads for 11 years. He has been employed with Panola-Harrison Electric Co-op for over 20 years. He graduated from Marshall High School, and Louisiana Tech University. Although he has served on many committees and teams through the years, his greatest joy continues to be working with our youth department, and teaching youth Sunday School Class. He also serves on Elysian Fields ISD School Board, and has served as the head coach of the EF Cross Country Team. Sam has a passion for God’s Word, and currently works and serves throughout our region as a member of Gideon’s International.

Favorite Bible Verse: “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8


Jerry Benson

Jerry and his wife Debbie have been married for 41 years. They have 2 grown daughters and 7 grand-kids. They have been members of Crossroads for 7 years. He grew up in a Christian home in Arizona, and made a profession of faith at the age of 9. He has been a deacon since the early 90’s and has taught Sunday School for over 35 years, at various churches. he currently serves as a Deacon at Crossroads, and teaches 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School. He has also served on the Stewardship Committee and Mission teams. Jerry is a Warehouse/Distribution Manager at Genpak. He has served with the local Habitat for Humanity board for 10+ years, and is currently chairman of the MEDCO board and serves on the Board of Trustees at ETBU.

Favorite Bible Verse: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31


Paula Nichols

Paula was raised in Pittsburg, Texas by Christian parents. At the age of 9 she invited Jesus into her heart, and was baptized. She grew in her faith thorugh Sunday School, worship service, GA’s and VBS, along with family devotions. After graduating from East Texas Baptist College, she married her husband Brian. She and Brian have been members of Crossroads for 25 years. She assists Brian in teaching the Journey SS Class, coordinates our church ministry at Mission Marshall Food Pantry, and plays the keyboard during our worship services. She spends time daily trying to stay fit spiritually, mentally, and physically. Her hobbies include quilting and reading.

Favorite Bible Verse: “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7


Terry Gresham

Terry received Jesus as his Savior at the age of 9, in a small church in Reklaw, Texas. He began teaching youth as a teenager, and was chosen for the Jr. Deacon program at the age of 19. He has been serving as a Deacon for 44 years, in various chruches. Terry and his wife Vikki have been members at Crossroads for 14 years. Terry has been a deacon at Crossroads for 13 of those years, and is the current Chairman. Terry and Vikki have also taught the Young Adult Sunday School Class.

Favorite Bible Verse: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

 

 


Joe David Brown

Joe David is the Dean of the Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies and a professor of Kinesiology at ETBU. Joe David and his wife Tina, teach the young adult Sunday School Class, and has taught a Couples Bible Study. Joe David currently serves as a Deacon at Crossroads.

Favorite Bible Verse: “Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

 

 

 


Chasidy Guthrie

Chasidy and her husband Todd met in college, and have been married for 14 years. They have two sons, Hayden, an 8th grader at EF Middle School, and Cooper, a 1st grader at EF Elementary. Chasidy has been a member of Crossroads since July 2007. She has served as the Assistant GA Leader, has taught 5th-6th grade Sunday School, serves as a regular member of the extended care in the 4-5 year old room, is a substitute teacher as needed for children’s classes, and has previously served on the Personnel Committee.

Jaime Vance

Jamie accepted Christ as her Savior when she was nine years old at First Baptist Church, Minden, LA. She has been a member of Crossroads for 17 years. She teaches the Victory Ladies Sunday School Class, and has also taught the mid week Women’s Bible Study. Jamie is the Leader of the Crossroads Prayer Ministry.

Favorite Bible Verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

 

 


Joshua Stewart – Alternate

Josh and his wife Janessa, have two daughters, Jacie (5) and Aubrey Jane (2). He teaches 8th grad U.S. History at Marshall Junior High. Josh was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but moved to Mount Vernon, Texas. He and Janessa started dating in high school at Mount Vernon. Josh and Janessa joined Crossroads in the fall of 2016. They both sing in the choir and work in the College Sunday School Class.

Favorite Bible Verse: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

 

 


Kristy Grubbs – Alternate

Kristy is originally from Sarepta, LA. She met her husband Clay, at Louisiana Tech, on the Powerlifting team. They have two sons,  Noah (14) and Tucker (10). Kristy has a passion for international missions. She and clay have been to Ethiopia and Peru, to share the gospel, and will be returning to Peru this summer. Kristy serves on the local mission team, at Crossroads, and stays young by hanging out the youth girls, on Sunday mornings. She is on the board of the Marshall Pregnancy Resource Center, and looks forward to serving alongside the other Deacon’s wives, planning the annual Widow’s Banquet. She is also a member of the choir. She enjoys making memories with her boys, while travelling and running from one sporting event to another. Her other hobbies include running and crafting.
